A Day at Amertham: 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Schedule in Bali

Our published Amertham training day in Bali begins at 06:00 and runs through to Evening Sadhana, which ends at 18:30. It combines physical practice, breathwork, study, meals, teaching methodology and alignment work, delivered residentially across a 20-night program. Our timetable may change at the teacher’s discretion. This article explains what each scheduled block is for.

Quick Answer: What Does a Day at Amertham Look Like?

Our current Amertham training day opens at 06:00 with Shatkarma and chanting, moves into asana and pranayama, then a Morning Lab block, breakfast, a study period labeled Jnana Yoga, Yoga Nidra, lunch, teaching methodology, alignment and adjustment work, and closes with Evening Sadhana at 18:30.

Dinner is included in our Amertham residential package, but our current timetable does not assign it a fixed time. The schedule is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion.

Important schedule note

Our current timetable lists Jnana Yoga until 12:30 while Yoga Nidra begins at 12:00. Our daily schedule is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion. Check our current Amertham timetable if exact session timing is important to your planning.

6:00 AM — Starting the Day With Shatkarma

Shatkarma refers to traditional yogic cleansing practices, and it opens our current timetable as a fifteen-minute block before anything else. Placing it first is consistent with how these practices are traditionally approached — before eating, and before the physical practice of the day. Our Amertham curriculum includes shatkarma, but we do not currently specify which practices are scheduled on each individual day.

6:15 AM — Chanting

Fifteen minutes of chanting follows, sitting between the cleansing practices and the main morning practice. It functions as part of the morning framework rather than as a separate study block, and the schedule does not specify what is chanted on a given day.

6:30 AM — Asana and Pranayama

Seventy-five minutes of physical practice with breathwork, and the longest practice block of the day. Asana is the postural practice; pranayama refers to yogic breathing practices, taught here alongside it rather than separately. The content of this session is not fixed across the program — Amertham’s curriculum moves through a Hatha foundation in week one, Vinyasa Flow in week two, and Ashtanga alongside teaching development in week three, so the same time slot carries different material as the training progresses. Our guide to how Amertham combines Hatha, Vinyasa and Ashtanga covers that progression in detail.

8:00 AM — Morning Lab

Our current schedule includes a 45-minute Morning Lab after the morning practice. We do not currently publish a fixed topic for every Morning Lab, so the specific focus may vary during the training. If knowing what this block covers matters to your decision, contact our team and we can clarify the current program details.

8:45 AM — Breakfast

Breakfast is scheduled from 08:45 to 10:00 and is included in the Amertham residential package. At seventy-five minutes it is one of the longer gaps in the published day, falling after the physical practice is complete.

10:00 AM — Jnana Yoga and Study

Our timetable labels this block Jnana Yoga, and it forms part of the program’s study and theory period — the longest single block on the timetable at two and a half hours as published. In general usage, jnana yoga refers to the path of knowledge and inquiry, concerned with study and philosophical reflection rather than physical practice.

We do not currently publish a session-by-session breakdown of the topics covered within this block. Treat the label as describing the type of study rather than a fixed session-by-session syllabus. If specific subjects matter to you, contact our team for the current curriculum details.

12:00 PM — Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is included in our Amertham curriculum as a guided relaxation and meditation practice. On the timetable it sits in the middle of the day, ahead of lunch.

This is also where the published overlap noted above appears: Yoga Nidra is listed from 12:00 while Jnana Yoga runs to 12:30. Because our schedule may change at the teacher’s discretion, check our current timetable rather than planning every session to the minute.

1:30 PM — Lunch

Lunch runs from 13:30 to 15:00 and is included in the package. It is the longest scheduled break in the published day.

3:00 PM — Teaching Methodology

This hour is what separates a teacher training day from a retreat day, and it is the part most worth understanding before you book. Teaching methodology covers how instruction is organized and delivered — how to communicate a practice clearly, how a class is structured, and how teaching skills are built over the course of a program.

Our Amertham curriculum includes teaching methodology and teaching development. Our current timetable gives Teaching Methodology a scheduled one-hour block rather than treating it as an occasional workshop, which is the arrangement worth comparing against other programs. For what a 200-hour curriculum covers overall, see what a 200-hour yoga teacher training covers.

4:00 PM — Alignment and Adjustment

Seventy-five minutes following teaching methodology. The Amertham curriculum includes alignment, adjustments, biomechanics and injury-prevention considerations, and this is the block where that material sits in the daily structure.

The practical point for a prospective student is that this is applied work rather than theory — understanding how a posture is organized, and how to communicate or support that in another body.

5:30 PM — Evening Sadhana
Our timetable labels the final scheduled training block Evening Sadhana. Sadhana is a broad term for committed, regular practice rather than the name of a specific technique. The block runs for an hour and closes the formal training day at 18:30.

6:30 PM — Dinner
Dinner follows at 18:30 and is included in our Amertham residential package. This is one of the key practical differences at Amertham, as dinner is included here whereas our Mansion and Melati programs do not include dinner. Having all three daily meals included helps keep the residential experience simple and fully integrated into the training day.

What Happens After the Published Schedule Ends?

Evening Sadhana is the last entry on the current timetable, ending at 18:30. Dinner is listed as included in Amertham’s residential packages, but the published daily schedule does not assign it a fixed time.

We do not currently publish a separate evening timetable beyond Evening Sadhana. If evening arrangements matter to how you plan your three weeks, contact our team and we can clarify the current arrangements.

How Does the Schedule Change Across the Three Weeks?

The timetable provides the daily framework; the curriculum changes what fills it.

Week 1 — Hatha Foundation

The opening week establishes a Hatha yoga foundation, which shapes the morning practice and the alignment work around postural fundamentals.

Week 2 — Vinyasa Flow Exploration

The second week moves into Vinyasa Flow, bringing sequencing and breath-linked movement into the same scheduled blocks.

Week 3 — Ashtanga and Teaching Development

The final week covers Ashtanga alongside teaching development, with practical and theoretical examinations at the end of the training.

We publish one daily timetable rather than a separate hourly schedule for each week, so the structure above describes changing emphasis rather than changing times. No week-specific timetable should be inferred from it.

How Is a YTT Day Different From a Regular Yoga Retreat?

Factor 200-hour YTT at Amertham A typical wellness retreat may offer
Daily study A scheduled theory block every training day Little or no formal study
Teaching methodology A scheduled hour daily Not usually included
Alignment study A scheduled block daily Covered informally if at all
Assessment Practical and theoretical exams None
Practice Required and scheduled Usually optional
Residential structure 20 nights with a set timetable Flexible, largely self-directed

Retreats vary widely, so treat the right column as what one is likely to involve rather than a rule. The distinction that matters is that a training day is coursework with a timetable attached. For more on the residential side of that, see our guide to nature-based yoga teacher training in Bali.

Is the Amertham Schedule Intensive?

It is a full structured training day rather than a casual retreat schedule. The day starts at 06:00, and the published timetable carries physical practice, a study block, teaching methodology, alignment work and an evening practice, with meals between them.

That is demanding in the sense of being full and consistent rather than physically extreme, and how any individual finds it depends on their own circumstances. Anyone with health, injury or mobility concerns should consult an appropriate healthcare professional and contact our team before booking so we can clarify the training requirements.

Can Beginners Follow the Amertham Daily Schedule?

Our Amertham training is open to all levels, including complete beginners, and you do not need to plan on becoming a yoga teacher to join. Eligibility is not the same as the schedule being casual, though — beginners are joining a full residential training day rather than an occasional studio class, and that is the part worth preparing for. Prior teaching experience is not required, because teaching methodology is taught within the program. For readiness and preparation in detail, see our guide to beginner yoga teacher training in Bali.

How Does Residential Living Fit Around the Training Day?

Amertham is a 20-night residential program, and the residential format keeps accommodation integrated with the training experience. Our current room options include dorm, triple, twin and private categories, and our Amertham packages include breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The practical effect on a day like the one above is that meals and rest sit inside the same environment as the sessions, so the breaks on the timetable are usable as breaks.

What Should You Prepare for Before a Full YTT Day?

Seven practical steps, none of which is a program requirement:

  • Understand that the published day starts at 06:00, and adjust your sleep pattern beforehand
  • Review our current Amertham timetable before you travel, as schedule details may change
  • Plan your personal routine around a full day rather than expecting to fit other commitments into it
  • Raise dietary questions before arrival rather than on the first day
  • Tell our team in advance about any injury, mobility or participation concerns
  • Verify the latest schedule before you travel

What Should You Know About Schedule Changes?

Our Amertham program page states clearly that the daily schedule is subject to change at the teacher’s discretion. That is worth taking at face value rather than treating the published times as fixed.

In practice this means exact timings, the order of sessions or the emphasis within a block may differ from the published version. This does not mean schedule changes are necessarily frequent. It simply means our teaching team may adjust the timetable when needed, so our current schedule should be checked before relying on exact times.

What Are the Current Amertham Training Dates?

The Amertham schedule currently lists October 12–31, 2026 as one training period. Future dates currently include November 23 – December 12 and December 14 – January 2, with additional 2027 dates listed on the program page.

We do not currently publish availability as a live figure, and availability can change, so check our current Amertham dates and availability before planning travel around a specific intake
