Why should you go to Rishikesh for your yoga journey?

People who want to become yoga teachers in Rishikesh are drawn to the city for its unique charm. Rishikesh is often called the “Yoga Capital of the World.” The city’s long history goes back to ancient sages who meditated by the riverbanks and channelled divine energy into yoga. This legacy lives on today, making it a great place for hands-on learning. The natural beauty of the area, like the tall mountains, lush forests, and the steady flow of the Ganges, makes every session better by clearing the mind and boosting energy.

The focus on living yoga as a way of life is what makes yoga teacher training Rishikesh stand out. In this place, you can disconnect from the distractions of daily life and fully embrace the yogic path, unlike in cities. At House of Om, we leverage this sacred space to offer programs that integrate physical postures with spiritual teachings, helping you align body, mind, and soul. Our location makes it easy to go on interesting trips, like visiting nearby temples or taking meditative walks by the river, which will make your training more meaningful.

Also, the international community in Rishikesh helps people feel like they are all part of the same world. Students from different backgrounds come together and share their experiences, which makes learning more interesting. This cultural exchange not only opens people’s minds, but it also helps them make friends for life. If you want to learn how to be a yoga teacher in Rishikesh and want to do more than just practice on the mat, House of Om is a great place to do it.

A Look at the Daily Training Routine

In the morning, the soft light of dawn at House of Om in Rishikesh invites you to greet the sun with pranayama and meditation. Our schedule is carefully planned so that it helps your body and mind without making you feel too busy. Asana sessions that focus on alignment and flow are often held in the morning, followed by healthy breakfasts made with fresh, local ingredients.

In the afternoons, we do more theoretical things, like studying yogic philosophy from the Yoga Sutras or anatomy workshops that show how poses affect the body’s systems. At the end of the day, people can do restorative practices, have group discussions, or go to optional sound healing sessions. Weekends are a time to think and go on trips, like hiking in the nearby hills or taking part in Ganga Aarti ceremonies.

This balanced schedule, which usually runs from 6 AM to 8 PM, gives you plenty of time to rest and integrate. We encourage writing in a journal and asking yourself questions, which makes yoga teacher training in Rishikesh feel like a personal retreat. Because of the perfect mix of activity and calm, people often say they feel more energized and centred.

Comfortable rooms and healthy facilities

We think that a supportive environment is important for yoga teacher training Rishikesh to be successful. House of Om has clean, comfortable rooms that range from shared rooms to private suites. All of them have modern amenities like hot water, Wi-Fi, and peaceful views of the nature around them. The simple setting of our ashram helps you focus on your inner work.

Three vegetarian meals a day made with sattvic principles to give you energy for your practice are a highlight. We use Ayurvedic knowledge to choose seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices that are good for digestion and health. There is also a large yoga hall, a library full of inspiring books, and outdoor areas where people can meditate.

Safety and health come first, with staff available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and medical help available if needed. We also offer laundry services and rides to and from the airport in Dehradun, which makes your stay even better.

The Deep Benefits and Lasting Change

Getting certified as a yoga teacher Rishikesh opens up benefits that go far beyond the certification itself. With regular practice, you’ll get stronger, more flexible, and more able to last. The journey helps you connect more deeply with your true self on a spiritual level, which can lead to deep insights and a sense of peace.

Questions may be directed to the Student Support Team at online@houseofom.com or via Direct Message through the online learning platform.

2. Course Start Deadline

Students must begin their online course within 12 months of the date of purchase.

Students who do not begin the course within this period will be required to pay a $90 Study Group Allocation Fee before joining a study group.

Delaying the start of the course may affect eligibility for Yoga Alliance certification, as certification requirements are determined by Yoga Alliance and may change over time.

3. Study Group Policy

200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Study Group Allocation

Students who select “Start as soon as possible” during enrollment will be assigned to the next available study group based on their preferred time zone and availability.

House of Om offers multiple study groups across different time zones to accommodate students worldwide.

Students who are not ready to begin should select “Do not want to start yet” during enrollment or notify Student Support before study group allocation.

Study groups are generally allocated within 2–4 weeks, although this may vary depending on teacher availability and the formation of suitable groups.

Guided Study Group

The 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training is delivered through guided study groups led by an assigned teacher. Each study group is designed to be completed over approximately 4 months, consisting of:

  • Approximately 3 months of live Zoom sessions.
  • Up to 1 additional month for homework review, teacher feedback, and final assessments.

Students are expected to complete all mandatory homework assignments, attend the required live Zoom sessions, and submit their final assessments during the study group period.

Students who do not complete these requirements within their assigned study group and wish to continue receiving teacher guidance must join a new study group.

A $90 Study Group Reassignment Fee applies when a student:

  • does not complete the required coursework within their assigned study group and wishes to continue with a new study group;
  • requests a different teacher;
  • requests reassignment to a study group in a different time zone after allocation; or
  • requests a change to their Zoom schedule after the first live Zoom session.

Requests made before the first live Zoom session will be accommodated free of charge, subject to availability.

Students who need to pause their studies due to medical reasons may rejoin a future study group without paying the reassignment fee. A valid medical certificate is required.

300-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

The 300-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training operates with an ongoing live study group rather than fixed cohorts.

Unlike the 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training, students are not assigned to a fixed study group or teacher, and the Study Group Reassignment Policy does not apply.

Students may attend live Zoom sessions according to their availability. To be eligible for graduation, students must complete a minimum of 45 hours of live Zoom training, including the required teaching practice hours outlined in the course curriculum.

Once a student confirms they are ready to begin and is activated in the live study group, they have 12 months to complete all graduation requirements and qualify for certification.
