Best Yoga Schools in Bali: Affordable, Accredited, and Highly Recommended

Bali has become one of the world’s most sought-after destinations for yoga teacher training, attracting students who come to deepen their practice, explore yoga philosophy, and begin their journey as teachers.

At House of Om, we understand that choosing the right yoga school is an important decision. This guide highlights key factors to consider when comparing yoga schools in Bali and selecting a program that aligns with your learning goals.

Why Bali Is a Popular Destination for Yoga Teacher Training

Bali is known for its established yoga community, cultural traditions, and wide range of Yoga Alliance–registered schools. Many students choose Bali because it combines residential teacher training with opportunities to experience local culture and wellness practices.

A Spiritual Culture That Elevates Your Practice

Bali’s Hindu-Balinese traditions run thousands of years deep. The concept of Tri Hita Karana, harmony between humans, nature, and the divine, aligns seamlessly with yoga’s own philosophy of unity and balance. Students studying yoga teacher training here do not just attend classes; they absorb a living, breathing spiritual culture through daily offerings, local ceremonies, and the quiet devotion woven into everyday Balinese life. Many students appreciate Bali’s cultural traditions and wellness community, which can complement the overall learning experience during yoga teacher training.

Unbeatable Value Compared to Western Programs

Many residential programs include accommodation and meals, although inclusions vary by provider, making training in Bali a compelling alternative to equivalent programs elsewhere.

What to Look for in a Registered Yoga School in Bali

Not every program that markets itself as one of the best yoga schools in Bali deserves that title. Before you enroll, there are several non-negotiable factors to evaluate. Here is what every prospective student should look for when comparing yoga certification Bali programs:

  • Yoga Alliance Accreditation: Look for schools registered with Yoga Alliance, the industry’s leading credentialing body. Graduates of Yoga Alliance–registered schools may register as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYTs). Recognition requirements may vary depending on the employer and country.
  • Experienced and Qualified Faculty: Your teachers matter more than your timetable. As Yoga Journal advises when evaluating a teacher training program, it’s worth looking for schools that emphasize practical teaching skills rather than pose perfection alone. Research lead instructors’ credentials, teaching lineage, and years of experience before enrolling.
  • Curriculum Depth and Structure: A quality yoga instructor course in Bali goes well beyond asana (postures). Look for comprehensive modules covering anatomy and physiology, yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, teaching methodology, and supervised practicum sessions where you practice teaching real students.
  • Style Variety: The best yoga schools in Bali offer training across multiple traditions, including Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin, and Restorative yoga, giving you a well-rounded foundation regardless of which style you ultimately choose to teach.

Questions may be directed to the Student Support Team at online@houseofom.com or via Direct Message through the online learning platform.

2. Course Start Deadline

Students must begin their online course within 12 months of the date of purchase.

Students who do not begin the course within this period will be required to pay a $90 Study Group Allocation Fee before joining a study group.

Delaying the start of the course may affect eligibility for Yoga Alliance certification, as certification requirements are determined by Yoga Alliance and may change over time.

3. Study Group Policy

200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

Study Group Allocation

Students who select “Start as soon as possible” during enrollment will be assigned to the next available study group based on their preferred time zone and availability.

House of Om offers multiple study groups across different time zones to accommodate students worldwide.

Students who are not ready to begin should select “Do not want to start yet” during enrollment or notify Student Support before study group allocation.

Study groups are generally allocated within 2–4 weeks, although this may vary depending on teacher availability and the formation of suitable groups.

Guided Study Group

The 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training is delivered through guided study groups led by an assigned teacher. Each study group is designed to be completed over approximately 4 months, consisting of:

  • Approximately 3 months of live Zoom sessions.
  • Up to 1 additional month for homework review, teacher feedback, and final assessments.

Students are expected to complete all mandatory homework assignments, attend the required live Zoom sessions, and submit their final assessments during the study group period.

Students who do not complete these requirements within their assigned study group and wish to continue receiving teacher guidance must join a new study group.

A $90 Study Group Reassignment Fee applies when a student:

  • does not complete the required coursework within their assigned study group and wishes to continue with a new study group;
  • requests a different teacher;
  • requests reassignment to a study group in a different time zone after allocation; or
  • requests a change to their Zoom schedule after the first live Zoom session.

Requests made before the first live Zoom session will be accommodated free of charge, subject to availability.

Students who need to pause their studies due to medical reasons may rejoin a future study group without paying the reassignment fee. A valid medical certificate is required.

300-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training

The 300-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training operates with an ongoing live study group rather than fixed cohorts.

Unlike the 200-Hour Online Yoga Teacher Training, students are not assigned to a fixed study group or teacher, and the Study Group Reassignment Policy does not apply.

Students may attend live Zoom sessions according to their availability. To be eligible for graduation, students must complete a minimum of 45 hours of live Zoom training, including the required teaching practice hours outlined in the course curriculum.

Once a student confirms they are ready to begin and is activated in the live study group, they have 12 months to complete all graduation requirements and qualify for certification.

Students who are unable to complete all graduation requirements within this period may purchase a 6-month Course Completion Extension for an additional $90.

Students are responsible for attending the required live training hours and successfully completing all graduation requirements within the applicable course completion deadline.

  • Any difference in course fees must be paid when booking the offline course.
  • If the student does not complete the offline course after returning, they will not be eligible for another transfer. Any future enrollment, whether in an online or offline course, will require the purchase of a new course at the applicable full course fee and the student must restart the program from the beginning.
